Frequently Asked Questions About Author Website Packages

How long does it take to build a website?

The length of time to create the website depends on the package you choose and if you need additional add ons. Here are some general guidelines.

  • Starter Website – 10 to 15 business days (2 to 3 weeks).
  • Basic Website – 15 to 20 business days (3 to 4 weeks).
  • Pro Website – 20 to 25 business days (4 to 5 weeks).

How do we get started?

Simply select the website package that is right for you.

  • Starter Website – If you have a limited budget and you just have one book to promote, this package will be fine. This website has 5 pages and is predesigned.
  • Basic Website – With 10 website pages and more features, this website package will provide a great website presence.
  • Pro Website – With 20 website pages, more slideshow slides, photos, a blog, and more, this website package is a marketing powerhouse.

Can I update the website after it goes live?

Yes. All our website packages include Admin access by the author, and we provide training. You will be able to login and make updates to the website as needed or we can provide that service for you.

If you prefer for us to make changes and updates, we can do it for you on an as needed basis.

Can I add more website pages to the package I choose?

Absolutely. The packages have a set number of pages so we can give you an exact price for the package. If you need additional pages added to the package or added later, that is not a problem.

I want to sell ebooks right from my new website with a shopping cart. Is that possible?

Yes. There are several options available. We would need to talk about your exact needs and then make a recommendation for the best way to integrate ecommerce into your website.

I don't have a domain name–can you help me?

Yes. Once we get started on your website we can check the availability of the domain name you would like and register it for you.

I have a website already–can you upgrade it or should I start from scratch?

Maybe. Depending on what platform your website has been built on we might be able to upgrade it, but in most cases it’s better to go with a new website that is optimized for authors, and one that is responsive so it will work on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers.

We can build your new website on a development server and then point your domain over when the new website is ready to go live so there is no downtime.

Are your websites custom designed or will my website look like someone else's?

All our websites will be customized so we use your branding, which means we use your logo (if you have one) and your book’s color scheme when we create the website, so there is a strong, unified look and feel to the website.

The Pro Website Package includes custom design so it will be totally unique.

How difficult is it to set up a blog?

Our Pro Website includes a blog and typically we create it using a URL like yourdomain.com/blog. We will work with you to determine your blog categories, frequency of the blog posting and we’ll work with you to maximize the search engine optimization and social media exposure of your blogging.

We include blog training so you can add blog posts and manage comments made on your website, or we can handle all the blog management for you.

Will I own the website or am I just renting it?

When the website is completed and it goes live, you will own the website and you will have full access to the Admin and to the server where the website is hosted. You will own all the website files.

I'm not very technical–do you provide support after the website goes live?

Absolutely. We have support plans and “pay as you go” plans. With our support you can email us any changes or updates to the website and we’ll take care of them for you in 2 business days or less.

Can you use content from my current website?

We can use text from your current website. Photographs may be a different matter. Sometimes website images are over optimized and the quality is very low. We want the new website to crisp, clean and tack sharp, so you may need to provide large photograph files for us to work with.

Can I use MailChimp to build my reader list in my website?

Absolutely. We can integrate MailChimp, Constant Contact and other email newsletter signup forms into your new website.
